ENVIRONMENTAL NOTES
Both Echo One and Two are indeed a very beautiful areas to climb in. Its wild open view of the valley below and the surrounding mountains make it a memorable place to visit. All of the areas you will visit here Echo Placa, Haunted Walls , Echo Two and One are still untouched by visiting climbers. Obviously paths will be made as more climbers visit this area but these could be kept to a minimum if everyone tries to keep to one path and avoids trampling too much of the very easily damaged vegetation at the foot of the routes.
Trees - There are few trees on the actual routes but those that are there will be easily damaged . Take care when abseiling . There is no need to use any trees as belays or abseils as all abseils have been provided with chains or bolts.
Birds - At the time of writing there are no birds nesting on these walls other than visiting Rock Martins on Echo Two. Please avoid disturbing there nests when climbing on routes where they have built their nests.
Litter - It will be very easy to fill these areas with rubbish and litter. Please take EVERYTHING home with you that you bring and that also means fag ends etc.
Toilets - I do not think I have to say how disgusting some sports areas have become due to the thoughtlessness of climbers using the area as an open sewer . If you have to 'go' cover it up after with stones and do not leave your toilet paper behind. It will show its presence here for years. BAG IT AND TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU. This may also be a good idea for your 'visiting card'. |
